Cebu
One of the exciting provinces of the Philippines is the island of Cebu. The island is surrounded by smaller islands including Mactan, Olango, Malapascua, Bantayan and Camotes islands.
Cebu City is the capital of the province of Cebu, and the oldest city in the Philippines, where you will also find the oldest street in the country—Colon street. Comprising the metropolitan are the neighbouring cities Toledo, Bogo, Danao, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Talisay, Naga, and Carcar, including six other municipalities.
There have been a lot of things going around Cebu, especially that it is one of the most developed provinces in the country and has been the centre of trade, commerce, industry and education.
Tourists and visitors will have no problem where to stay while in Cebu. There are fabulous white sand beaches and resorts, convention centres, and there are shopping malls in case you have enough enjoying the magnificent views.
Cebu is served by Mactan Cebu International airport, which is located on Mactan Island and is a thirty-minute drive from the city. The port facilities located in the city also make it a destination for several cruise ships and ferries from other islands and it has been the major shipping hub of the Philippines. Other means of transportation you will find in Cebu are jeepneys, buses, and metered taxis.
The City of Cebu host the popular Sinulog Festival where it draws a number of tourist and returning Filipinos or “balikbayans” to watch and experience the event.
The best time to visit Cebu is within the months of December to March, when the weather is relatively dry. From March to May are the summer months when temperatures on the island can go as high as 37°C (99°F).
