Discover the Beauty of Malapascua Island
Since the Philippine archipelago is comprised of 7,107 islands, it boasts several beautiful island resorts. One of these is Malapascua, which is found along the northern part of Cebu. It measures 1-kilometre wide and 2.5-kilometre long.
Sometimes, the island is called “Little Boracay” because of its pristine waters and pure white shores. The only difference is that it is quite small. It is not visited much. However, it is slowly gaining popularity and recognition from local tourists.
The locals here are the first to discover its underwater beauty in the 90’s. Since then, it has become among the top diving spots in the country. It takes pride in its white sand beaches, coral gardens, underwater plateau and marine creatures. Its well-known sights are Monad Shoal, Kemod Shoal, and Gato Island.
Tourism drives the economy of Malapascua Island and the main source of livelihood is fishing. There is several fishing villages dotted along the coastline. Most visitors come here during the Lenten season and the holidays.
